Removing a stubborn toilet tank lid can be a real challenge if it has been sealed shut over time or if limescale have accumulated around the edges. The key is to work slowly and gently to avoid shattering the lid.

First, shut off the toilet’s water inlet and running the flush cycle until the tank is nearly empty. This minimizes water leakage and makes the lid lighter and easier to handle.
